ROBBINS DORMITORY (BARD COLLEGE)

Robbins Dormitory, located on the campus of Bard College, at Annandale-on-Hudson, New York, consists of a new, 52,000-square-foot addition to an existing residence hall. The 163-bed dormitory provides housing for undergraduates and graduate students and includes a large conference room, classrooms, music practice rooms, an exercise space, a student lounge/kitchen, and student laundry facilities. A leader among private institutions for implementation of sustainable design principles and green architecture, Bard College required the project to be LEED certified. Hence the dormitory utilizes geothermal energy for heating and cooling, has extremely energy-efficient lighting and insulation, and utilizes recycled materials, to cite several examples of its environmentally friendly aspects.  (LEED certification is pending.)   

Robin Andrade served as lead architect/project manager for the project, overseeing a design team from Ashokan Architecture and Planning.
